Italy Judge Orders 13 Year-Old to Have Abortion as Parents Oppose Birth

An Italian judge has ordered a thirteen year-old girl to have an abortion because her parents are opposed to their daughter giving birth. The decision relies on laws in Italy that allow parents to make the pregnancy decisions for their teenage children.

The road that catches and fines drivers who overtake in wrong place

Police in Rome have a new weapon in their quest to tame reckless drivers: a device to identify and fine people who ignore the double white lines that prohibit overtaking.

It comprises three video cameras coupled to sensors under the road surface. When the sensors detect a car crossing the white lines, the cameras catch the number plate. Traffic police then check the film to make sure that an offence has been committed and start an automatic process to fine the car’s owner €70 (£46) and impose three licence points.

Court rules against bid to remove crucifix

Italian state-run schools are fully entitled to hang crucifixes in their classrooms, an Italian high court ruled on Wednesday, thus rejecting a legal challenge raised by a non-Christian.
