Ever since Franklin D.
Roosevelt gave us his "New Deal", the Federal government has
been assuming more and more responsibility for the care and welfare of the
people, resulting in people becoming more dependent on the government.
The same pattern is being following in attempts by corporations to make people dependent
on their products. This increase in dependency parallels that described in George
Orwell's 1984 book.
